Sales of newspapers and books decreased by 13.6 percent last month in year-on-year terms, and those of furniture, household appliances and consumer electronics fell by 11.6 percent, the state-run Statistics Poland (GUS) agency said.
Meanwhile, sales of food, beverages and tobacco products went down by 4.2 percent, and those of clothing and shoes decreased 4.8 percent, according to Statistics Poland.
In terms of current prices, retail sales last month were 2.1 percent higher than in July 2022, Statistics Poland said.
In month-on-month terms, retail sales in July were 1.9 percent higher than in June, the statistics office also reported.
