Polish 2022 GDP growth rate revised up

The Polish economy expanded by 5.3 percent in 2022, after growing 6.9 percent in 2021, the country’s statistics office has said, revising upward its previous estimate for last year.

The state-run Statistics Poland (GUS) agency in April reported that the Polish economy grew 5.1 percent last year.

The statistics office has now revised upward its estimate for Polish GDP growth in 2022 by 0.2 percentage points, state news agency PAP reported.

The Polish economy contracted 0.6 percent in the second quarter of this year, after shrinking 0.3 percent in the first quarter, according to a  preliminary estimate released by Statistics Poland in August.

Poland's President Andrzej Duda in August signed into law the country’s revised budget for 2023, which expects the economy to grow 0.9 percent this year.
