Sales of clothing and shoes decreased by 16.3 percent last month in year-on-year terms, and those of furniture, household appliances and consumer electronics fell by 12.2 percent, the state-run Statistics Poland (GUS) agency said.
Meanwhile, sales of food, beverages and tobacco products inched down by 0.1 percent, while those of motor vehicles increased 9.8 percent, according to Statistics Poland.
In terms of current prices, retail sales last month were 3.6 percent higher than in September 2022, Statistics Poland said.
In month-on-month terms, retail sales in September were 0.3 percent lower than in August, the statistics office also reported.
