The move follows a decision by Interior Minister Paweł Szefernaker, state news agency PAP reported.

A deputy interior minister told public broadcaster Polish Radio last month that Slovakia "has become a popular transit country among illegal migrants."

The government said in October that the renewed checks on the Slovak border were producing the expected results, stopping illegal migrants from transiting through Poland.

Poland reinstated temporary border checks on the Slovak border on October 4. Initially put in place for 10 days, the measure was subsequently extended until November 2. The latest extension further prolongs the checks by an additional 30 days.
