Daniel Obajtek, the former CEO of Orlen, has revealed that his severance pay is a "mere 140-150 000 PLN" "not the 1.5 or 3 million of previous CEOs". Poland's law has changed since those larger payments, the "Ustawa kominowa" caps certain remunerations.

Orlen's management came in for sustained criticism in the February 5 NIK report (report of the Supreme Audit Office).

The prime minister has suggested that a separate government commission is not needed for Orlen, but added, ominously, that "audits and the state prosecutor" should suffice.

Several other accusations have been made against Obajtek, including today's from the prime minister that Obajtek used company money in effect to spy on opposition politicians:

Obajtek has denied the accusation.
