26.01.2026 11:55
According to the latest alert from Poland’s Government Security Centre (RCB), freezing rain and hazardous conditions are expected on Monday, 26 January 2026, particularly across north-western and western regions of Poland.
In Poland, the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW) have issued warnings for freezing rain, which is creating icy conditions on roads and other surfaces.

“If you can, stay at home. Limit travel. Be careful on roads and sidewalks,” the official warning advised residents in the affected regions of Poland.

Meteorologists from the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW) have also warned of local drizzle and freezing rain, creating hazardous conditions across large parts of the country.

Roads and sidewalks are expected to remain slippery until at least 1 p.m. local time, as patches of frost continue to persist in many areas.

Train services delayed across western Poland as freezing conditions continue

Polish rail operator PKP Intercity reported on Monday morning that freezing rain has caused a layer of frost to form on overhead lines, leading to major delays or cancellations of trains in western Poland.

Services have been suspended on key long-distance routes, including Poznań Główny to Frankfurt/Oder, Wrocław Główny, and Szczecin Główny, as well as Rzepin to Szczecin Główny, in both directions.

Regional disruptions affect several areas of western Poland.

On the line between Wrocław and Poznań, sections between Stary Bojanów and Czempiń, Września and Jarocin, and Buk to Zbąszynek are affected.

In western Poland along the border with Germany, services are halted between Zbąszyń–Rzepin and Sulechów–Czerwieńsk.

In north-western Poland along the Baltic coast, train movement is suspended on stretches including Kowalów–Szczecin Port Centralny, Stargard–Szczecin Dąbie, Świnoujście–Szczecin Dąbie, and Białogard–Kołobrzeg.

PKP Intercity warned that freezing conditions on the traction network are causing ongoing changes to train schedules.

UPDATE: Polish rail network partially restored following freezing rain

The latest updates show that rail services on the Wrocław-Poznań route in western Poland have resumed before noon, following earlier disruptions caused by freezing rain and frost on the overhead lines. Problems continue on the Poznań-Rzepin and Sulechów-Czerwieńsk routes.

Conditions remain worse in north-western Poland, where trains are still not running on several routes from Szczecin and on the Białogard-Kołobrzeg line.
