The inaugural flight is scheduled for May 6, 2026, with the service operating four times a week—on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays—using Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, the airline announced on Thursday.
Flights from Warsaw will depart at 11:15 a.m. on Thursdays and Sundays, and at 5:40 p.m. on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
The journey is expected to take about 11 hours and 30 minutes.
San Francisco will become LOT's sixth destination in the United States, alongside New York, Chicago, Newark, Miami and Los Angeles.
The route was initially planned for 2020 but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.
"Transatlantic connections have strategic importance for LOT," said Robert Ludera, the airline’s director of network planning.
He added: "Over the past 12 months, 800,000 passengers have travelled on our routes between Poland and the United States. This new connection will link the heart of Europe with the world's centre of technology and innovation, opening up new opportunities for both business and leisure travellers."
The flights are currently scheduled for the 2026 summer season, with the possibility of extension depending on demand, Polish state news agency PAP reported.
Founded in 1929, LOT is one of the world's oldest airlines. It offers long-haul flights to destinations in the United States, Canada, India, Japan and South Korea, as well as direct connections to many European capitals.
The carrier transported 10.7 million passengers last year.
