The figure was higher than forecast by analysts, who had expected an increase of 2.3 percent, Poland’s PAP news agency reported.

In month-on-month terms, industrial production in October was 7.8 percent higher than in September, the Central Statistical Office said.

Meanwhile, output in Poland's construction-and-assembly sector fell by 4 percent in October in year-on-year terms, while decreasing by 3.8 percent month on month, the state-run statistics agency estimated.

The latest batch of economic data came after the office reported on Thursday that employment in Polish companies increased 2.5 percent last month on average in year-on-year terms.

The Polish economy grew 3.9 percent in the third quarter of this year, the Central Statistical Office said last week in a flash estimate.
