Polish industrial production down 2.9% y/y in March: Eurostat

Poland's industrial production decreased by 2.9 percent in March compared with the same month a year earlier, the European Union’s statistics agency has reported.

Malta boasted the fastest year-on-year growth in seasonally-adjusted industrial production in the EU in Marchat 12.5 percent, followed by Denmark in second place, with 8.9 percent, and Spain in third place, with 5.6 percent, according to the Eurostat agency.

Among member states for which data were available, Ireland reported the steepest year-on-year decrease in industrial production in March, at 26.1 percent, while Lithuania recorded a 16.6 percent drop, the agency's data showed.

The agency said seasonally-adjusted industrial production in the EU as a whole decreased by 1.3 percent in March in year-on-year terms.

Poland’s statistics office, which uses a different methodology, reported last month that Polish industrial production fell 2.9 percent in March compared with the same month a year earlier. When adjusted for seasonal factors, the decrease was 2.1 percent, the state-run Statistics Poland (GUS) agency said.
