The latest figures were unveiled by the EU’s statistics agency, Eurostat, on Thursday, Polish state news agency PAP reported.
In 2022, a total of 14.7 million bicycles were produced in the European bloc, according to the study.
This represents a 10% increase in bicycle production compared to the previous year (2021), and a 29% increase over the course of a decade from 2012 to 2022, Eurostat said.
Poland made one million bicycles last year, coming fifth in the EU league table, the PAP news agency reported.
Poland’s biggest bicycle maker is Kross, with a 25% share of the market; another major player is Dadelo, listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange, according to the DNA Rynków website.
Portugal topped the 2022 EU league table with 2.7 million bicycles, followed by Romania (2.6 million), Italy (2.5 million) and Germany (1.7 million), Eurostat said.
