It is the brand’s tradition to collaborate with top-tier artists, in a project known as Artycapucines, where artists reimagine Louis Vuitton’s iconic Capucines bag.

Juszkiewicz, born and nurtured artistically in the Baltic city of Gdańsk, and currently residing in Warsaw, is a notable figure in the contemporary art scene.

Her works are distinctive, often intertwining classical portrait painting techniques with a surreal twist.

She holds a master’s in painting from the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk, and a doctorate from the Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków, southern Poland.

The artist has made a significant mark in flipping genre conventions, expertly crafting oil female portraits that meld historical European painting styles with elements of the surreal and grotesque.

The latest Louis Vuitton project also features Billie Zangewa from Malawi, American sculptor Liza Lou, the French-Serbian duo Tursic & Mille, and Chinese artist Ziping Wang, all bringing a multitude of cultural and artistic perspectives to the revered Capucines bags.

The project centers on the creation of a limited series of 200 pieces of each design, with a price tag of EUR 9,200 per item.

Juszkiewicz's contribution involved transplanting a fragment of her painting Ginger Locks onto the Capucines bag.

This selection underscores her rising global prominence, which she has recently achieved with Christie's auction house sale of her artwork Portrait of a Lady (After Louis Leopold Boilly), which fetched USD 1.56 million in May last year.

Juszkiewicz’s innovative style involves the deconstruction of feminine beauty ideals, often veiling the faces of the women in her portraits with lush floral arrangements or surreal distortions, thereby narrating a history of effacement and erasure prevalent in the Western canon of female portraiture.

Her meticulous style and subversive content have already earned her a distinguished position among contemporary artists.

Juszkiewicz's collaboration with Louis Vuitton stands as a testament to her growing influence in the global art market and shines a spotlight on the rich and diverse artistic talents emerging from Poland.
