Krukowski, who has an extensive background in diplomacy and experience with international financial institutions, will assume the role of Alternate Executive Director at the World Bank in Washington.

Krukowski's professional journey includes significant roles in various European institutions. A graduate from the University of Łódź and the National School of Public Administration in Warsaw, he served at the Ministry of Finance’s European Union department and was part of the Permanent Representation of Poland to the EU. His experience also extends to the European Investment Bank (EIB) in Brussels, where he was appointed as chief advisor. In this role, Krukowski was involved in coordinating the EIB’s strategy towards Russia and China and supported the bank’s assistance to Ukraine.

The nomination of Krukowski by Finance Minister Domański follows the dismissal of the previous World Bank representative from Poland, Jacek Kurski. Kurski's removal by the new Polish government was a decision criticized by the central bank, which had appointed him in 2022. Kurski, who previously held the position of head of the state broadcaster TVP, was seen as a controversial figure due to changes he implemented at TVP that critics claimed turned it into a propaganda vehicle for the populist-conservative PiS government.
