One in four respondents to a survey commissioned by BIG InfoMonitor, a firm that collects data on debt, said they have lost their job or taken a pay cut due to the economic disruption triggered by the spread of the coronavirus, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency has reported.

It cited a spokeswoman for BIG InfoMonitor, Halina Kochalska, as saying that those hardest hit included freelancers and part-time employees as well as self-employed individuals without savings.

Nearly 30 percent of those polled said they were planning to save on bigger expenses, and 21 percent intended to limit spending on basic needs, according to BIG InfoMonitor, as cited by the IAR news agency.

One in 10 respondents said they were not afraid of either the economic or health impacts of the coronavirus, the IAR news agency reported.

It noted that the Polish government has come up with a multibillion relief and stimulus package to mitigate the economic implications of the pandemic.
