The parade was held under the patronage of Warsaw mayor Rafał Trzaskowski, who marched along the participants. A number of foreign ambassadors to Poland as well as representatives of the centrist and leftist parties took part in the event.

“I welcome colourful and smiling Warsaw. A tolerant Warsaw”, said Rafał Trzaskowski at the start of the march . “This is a day of the LGBT community”, he added, “but also a day of all who are tolerant and who want Warsaw to be a city for all.”

The march wound up outside the Palace of Culture, with a concert performed by some of the best known artists  in Poland.

The Saturday Equality Parade comes 20 years since the event was first held in the Polish capital. It was held on a smaller scale than the last one in 2019 due to some pandemic restrictions still in place, it had a shorter route and was split into groups, which were  required to space themselves out.

The itinerary of the march was protected by police patrols , traffic in the center of Warsaw was halted during the parade.
