Three of the medals on Thursday came from swimmers Mateusz Chowaniec, Wiktoria Guść and Filip Kosiński, and two from track runners Patryk Grzegorzewicz and Oliwer Wdowik, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.
With a total of 10 medals, four gold, one silver and five bronze, Poland was sixth in the nation standings after five days of competition in the Azerbaijani capital.
The 2019 Summer European Youth Olympic Festival began in Baku on Sunday, July 21. It runs until Saturday.
The event, intended for competitors aged under 18, is billed as a "vital step in the development of youth sport" and "a first taste of major multisport competition" for athletes, some of whom go on to compete in the European Games and Olympic Games.
