French Open: Poland’s Świątek enters women’s doubles quarterfinals

Poland’s Iga Świątek and Nicole Melichar of the United States have advanced to the quarterfinals of the women’s doubles competition at the French Open tennis tournament in Paris.

The Pole and the American beat the Czech Republic’s Kveta Peschke and Demi Schuurs of the Netherlands, 6-3, 6-4, in their third-round encounter on Monday.

Up next for 19-year-old Świątek and her US doubles partner at the Grand Slam tournament in the French capital are Americans Asia Muhammad and Jessica Pegula.

Poland’s Świątek on Sunday booked her place in the quarterfinals of the French Open women's singles after a resounding 6-1, 6-2 victory against top seed Simona Halep of Romania.
