The 20-year-old Pole, coached by countryman Tomasz Wiktorowski, on Sunday cruised past Maria Sakkari of Greece to win the BNP Paribas Open tennis tournament at Indian Wells, California, claiming her fifth career singles title.

The third-seeded Pole overpowered the sixth-seeded 26-year-old Greek player 6-4, 6-1 in the final.

The Polish tennis player last month won the Qatar Open tennis tournament in Doha. In May last year, she won the women's singles at the Italian Open clay-court tournament in Rome. In February 2021, she triumphed at the Adelaide International tournament in Australia.

Świątek in October 2020 won the French Open, claiming her maiden Grand Slam title and becoming the first Pole to lift a Grand Slam singles trophy.

Australia's Ashleigh Barty remains world No. 1, while Greece's Sakkari has moved up from sixth to third place in the new WTA rankings, which were released on Monday.

Poland's Magda Linette has slipped one notch to 63rd place.
