WRAP-UP: 13 European medals for Polish canoeists, kayakers in Munich

Poland has won 13 medals, including four gold, at the 2022 Canoe Sprint European Championships, which ended in Munich, Germany on Sunday.

On the last day of competition, Poland’s Anna Puławska became European champion in the women's K1 500 m, and she also won the gold in the K4 500 m event, together with teammates Karolina Naja, Adrianna Kąkol and Dominika Putto.

The canoe duo of Arsen Śliwiński and Aleksander Kitewski bagged another gold for Poland in the men’s C2 200 m.

Meanwhile, Poland's Justyna Iskrzycka took the silver in the women’s K1 1000 m, and teammates Dominika Putto and Katarzyna Kołodziejczyk finished runners-up in the women’s K2 200 m.

Wiktor Głazunow and Tomasz Barniak claimed another silver for Poland on Sunday in the men's C2 500 m.

In yet another Polish podium finish on Sunday, Rafał Rosolski took the bronze in the men’s K1 5000 m.

On Saturday, the Polish kayak duo of Karolina Naja and Anna Puławska claimed the gold in the women's K2 500 m, and teammates Jakub Stepun and Bartosz Grabowski grabbed the silver in the men’s K2 200 m.

Meanwhile, Poland's Marta Walczykiewicz took the bronze in the women’s K1 200 m.

In another Polish podium finish on Saturday, Oleksii Koliadych earned the bronze in the men's C1 200 m

The canoe duo of Sylwia Szczerbińska and Julia Walczak won the bronze in the women’s C2 500 m.

On Friday, the Polish kayak duo of Justyna Iskrzycka and Katarzyna Kołodziejczyk took the silver in the women’s K2 1000 m.

About 455 competitors from 36 countries took part in the 2022 Canoe Sprint European Championships, which were held at the Olympic Regatta Centre in Munich from August 18 to 21.

The competition was held as part of the multi-sport Munich 2022 European Championships, which featured a total of nine Olympic sports: athletics, beach volleyball, canoe sprint, cycling, gymnastics, rowing, sport climbing, table tennis, and triathlon.

Poland won a total of 39 medals, eight gold, 16 silver and 15 bronze, in the multi-sport jamboree in the southern German city, and finished eighth in the overall standings of the Munich 2022 European Championships, which were held from August 11 to 21.

Host nation Germany finished top of the standings, with a total of 26 medals, including 20 golds, while Britain finished second in the medals table, with 19 gold medals and 24 podium finishes.
