The 21-year-old Pole beat Germany’s unseeded Jule Niemeyer 2:6, 6:4, 6:0 in their fourth round clash at Flushing Meadows on Monday, news outlets reported.

Świątek came from one set down to win, making history in the process, as she became the first Polish woman to reach the last eight at the US Open.

“The quarterfinals is my best [US Open] result,” she said in her on-court interview. “I’m proud of that. For sure this season it’s really satisfying.”

Poland’s world No. 1 will now face the American eighth seed Jessica Pegula on Wednesday.

The 2022 US Open runs until September 11.
