The Poles lost 9:15, 9:19, 18:30, 18:31 to the Olympic runners-up in front of 11,563 spectators at the EuroBasket Arena in Berlin, Germany, news outlets reported.

Poland found their opponents too formidable on the day, with the athletic French team dominant from start to finish, according to sportowefakty.wp.pl.

Yet having enjoyed what fiba.basketball described as “a fairytale run” to the semi-finals of the tournament, the Polish side can still claim the third place and bronze medal.

They will face the losing side from the other semi-final, between Germany and Spain, in the bronze-medal game in Berlin on Sunday.

Meanwhile, whoever wins that other semi will entertain France in the final of EuroBasket 2022, also in the German capital on Sunday.

The FIBA Men's EuroBasket 2022 is being co-hosted by the Czech Republic, Georgia, Italy and Germany.
