Gym trainer Edyta Litwiniuk on Thursday encouraged television viewers to get up from their chairs and burn off “those holiday calories.”

“For starters, let's just go out for a walk and take a breath of fresh air,” Litwiniuk said on private broadcaster TVN24.

“Only then can we think of taking up other forms of physical activity,” she added.

Litwiniuk also told Poles that a well-balanced diet "is key."

“When it comes to food, we can eat everything we want, but in reasonable quantities,” she said, telling people that shedding kilogrammes should be thought of as a process.

"Let's give ourselves a chance and time to see results," she said.

Almost four in 10 Poles are overweight and one in five is obese, according to a recent study.

The number of Poles who engage in physical activity has increased to 64 percent this year, up by two percentage points from 2018, a survey has found.
