Among those taking part was Cezary Trybański, the first Polish-born player in America's NBA basketball league.

The event also attracted former Olympic stars such as wrestler Andrzej Supron, who is now chairman of the Polish Wrestling Federation, alongside a group of actors and volunteers.

The project was organised by the Kasia Dulnik Foundation, set up by the former Polish female professional basketball player who won the European championship with her team in 1999.

"Today I get a chance to play again and this time we are playing for Ukraine," Trybański told Radio Poland's Danuta Isler.

"Everybody knows how bad the situation there is right now and we want to support them," he added.
