After a close fight in the first set, Fręch, who is ranked world No. 92 by WTA, put up little resistance against Halep's powerful serves in the second set, losing to the tournament's No.16 seed 4-6, 1-6.

In the third round, the Pole enjoyed one of her career's biggest moments when she battled past Slovakia's Anna Karolína Schmiedlová 6-4, 6-4 in their women's singles match at the Wimbledon tournament in the British capital on Thursday.

Reaching the third round at Wimbledon, Fręch has posted her best Grand Slam result.
