The event’s selection panel has placed the film in the festival's "international narrative competition" section.

The festival’s website says that the main protagonist of The Hater is "disgraced law student Tomek [who] will do what it takes to impress Gabi and her liberal family. Taking a job at a sordid PR company, he finds he excels at spreading political misinformation, but at what cost?"

The Tribeca Film Festival is one of the world’s major platforms for independent cinema.

The Hater goes on general release in Poland on March 6.

Jan Komasa’s previous movie, Corpus Christi, won an Oscar nomination in the Best International Feature Film category and also garnered 11 awards from the Polish Film Academy.
