The festival jury praised the film as a great debut exploring complex topics, with excellent acting and a plot full of twists.
Kruhlik's movie opened the Monterrey festival, which ended on Thursday.
Grzegorz Wójtowicz, spokesman for the Polish Filmmakers Association, described Supernova as the “best Polish debut of 2019”.
This month and next, the film enters regular distribution in three countries: Britain, Norway and Germany, Wójtowicz added.
Describing the plot, the polishexpress website says that the action takes place on a country road and it is here that the drama of three men will play out, completely changing their lives.
