Released by Erato/Warner Classics, the album features 18th-century arias and motets by composers such as Zelenka, Handel, Fux, de Almeida and Nucci.

Orliński is partnered by the instrumentalists of Il Pomo d’Oro conducted by Francesco Corti.

The jury of the International Classical Music Awards consists of professional music critics from leading magazines, online services and radio stations across Europe.

In its citation for the award, the jury wrote: “Orliński, one of the greatest countertenors of our time, shows not only excellent vocal abilities, but also a rare musical intelligence. A must-have for all those who love Baroque music.”

The awards ceremony is due to take place in Luxembourg on April 21.

Anima Aeterna is Orliński’s third solo album, following the highly acclaimed Anima Sacra and Facce d’amore released on the same label in 2018 and 2020.

In November last year, Orliński made his Metropolitan Opera debut as Orpheus’s Double in Eurydice, a new take on the ancient Greek myth of Orpheus by American composer Matthew Aucoin.
