The celebration aims “to promote knowledge of dollhouses as a historical document of the times in which they were made, and to encourage people to make their own dollhouses,” the Polish museum said.

Celebrating International Dollhouse Day
Those wishing to mark International Dollhouse Day are encouraged “to organise various activities related to the celebration of this day,” including “contests for the most interesting houses” and the sharing of ideas on how to make “miniatures from everyday objects.”
Other suggestions include making “plates and bowls from buttons,” lamps from “decorative bottle caps,” and “mini dressers from matchboxes,” according to the Warsaw museum, whose full name is the Museum of Dollhouses, Games and Toys.
Museum officials noted that a dollhouse could be made by "anyone, regardless of manual skills and wallet size,” and "the only thing that matters is the creativity and imagination of the designer.”

‘A perfect family hobby’
Moreover, dollhouse making is “a perfect family hobby," one that brings people together, according to the initiators of the celebration.
Passed from generation to generation, a dollhouse “can become a beautiful family heirloom, full of hidden stories and meanings, legible and understandable only to the closest ones,” officials said.
Established in 2016, the Museum of Dollhouses, Games and Toys in Warsaw’s Old Town district features more than 150 exhibits, including “historic homes, stores, schools, hospitals and other sites” made in various parts of the world.
The oldest dollhouse on display is more than 200 years old, the museum said.

Visitors are certain to encounter “secret passageways,” savour the exhibition’s “magical atmosphere,” admire “the craftsmanship reflected in old toys,” reflect on “what is irretrievably gone” and find “great inspiration" for their own creativity, Warsaw’s Museum of Dollhouses, Games and Toys said in a statement.
