Organised by the Polish Institute in Paris, the 16th edition of the Kinopolska (CimenaPoland) Festival will bill such films as Filip, directed by Michał Kwieciński, Kobieta na dachu (The Woman on the Roof) by Anna Jadowska, and the children's film Miś Colargol.

Held at the L’Arlequin cinema in the heart of the Latin Quarter, the festival's grand opening will feature director Michał Kwieciński and French actor Victor Meutelet, who plays  the main part in Filip.

The movie, which opens the festival, “is a prime example of successful Polish-French collaboration with an international cast”, said Marzena Moskal of the Polish Institute.

“It tells the unique story of a young boy of Polish-Jewish heritage who assumed a French identity during World War II while in Germany," she explained

Each screening will be followed by meetings with the films’ creators  including directors, actors, and soundtrack composers.

Additionally, some of the films are set to be screened in French cinemas this year, including The Woman on the RoofMiś Colargol and  Skąd dokąd  (In the Rearview).

This year's edition will feature a diverse selection of 15 works, consisting of 12 feature-length films, 3 short films, and 2 documentaries.

In 2022, the event was attended by 1,400 viewers.

The festival runs until Sunday.
