Sunday's concert is to include works by some of the most prominent Polish composers: Witold Lutosławski, Henryk Mikołaj Górecki, Krzysztof Penderecki and Wojciech Kilar.
"The oldest of the works was written at the beginning of the 1950s, while the newest was commissioned for this occasion from Mikołaj Piotr Górecki," Henryk's son, the Warsaw Philharmonic has said.
The audience is to hear the first ever performance of that composition to the words of St Francis of Assisi's Canticle of the Sun "the oldest Italian poem with attributed authorship, in praise of God, who is manifest in the celestial bodies, the elements and death."
The Warsaw Philharmonic also added the concert is to celebrate "the 550th anniversary of the birth and 480th anniversary of the death of Copernicus," with Andrzej Koszewski's cantata for three choirs.
A full programme of the celebrations is available on the Warsaw Philharmonic website, with the main concert held on Sunday evening, and more choir performances scheduled throughout next week.
