Karewicz, who died on March 18 at the age of 97, was laid to rest at Warsaw’s Powązki cemetery. The funeral was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

After the war, Karewicz rose to fame as a film and TV actor. He appeared in 150 movies in all.
Karewicz was posthumously awarded the Commander’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta, one of the country’s highest state orders, for outstanding services to Polish culture.
