Kornhauser-Duda submitted two items of her own to the broadcaster’s annual Choinki Jedynki fundraiser, which is now in its 18th year.

During a promotional event at Polish Radio’s Warsaw headquarters on Sunday, the first lady thanked those who have contributed to the project.

"I would like to thank all those who have decided to … support this much needed and noble initiative," she said.

Kornhauser-Duda encouraged donors to be generous, and she also said that Choinki Jedynki (Christmas with Polish Radio 1) was one of her favourite charity campaigns and one that aimed to provide wide-ranging assistance to people in need.

Polish Radio CEO Andrzej Rogoyski said the campaign undertaken by the broadcaster carried the message that “we all crave goodness and that we need to share good things with others, to speak about doing good, but above all do good for those who need it most.”

Funds raised through the drive will go toward two charitable foundations, including one run by well-known actress Anna Dymna.
