Edyta Górniak said in a social media post she was thankful to be home and able to reunite with her son at a time of global pandemic.
“I haven’t been happier to be back in Poland in a long time,” Górniak said on Instagram. “I wanted and needed to be closer to my child, closer to my country. It wasn't easy, but it worked."
She added: "Thank you, LOT Polish Airlines and the whole crew for this safe return home.”
With a career spanning three decades, Górniak is one of the most popular female singers in the history of Polish pop music. Her singing career took off after she finished runner-up in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1994.
Some 25,000 Poles have returned from abroad on 185 special flights as the government conducts a massive operation to bring citizens home amid the global coronavirus outbreak, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported on Monday.
Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said earlier this month that flights chartered by the government and operated by state-run airline LOT would be made available to those who want to come home but are stranded in various parts of the world.

All Polish citizens returning from abroad are being placed under a 14-day quarantine after crossing the border.
Polish Deputy Foreign Minister Marcin Przydacz said last week that the special flights would continue as long as they were needed.
The country has temporarily closed its borders to non-residents and suspended scheduled international air connections as part of efforts to curb the spread of the coronavirus.
A total of 634 people have tested positive for the Covid-19 disease in Poland, with seven deaths from the coronavirus so far, officials said on Sunday.
