He made the trip at the weekend to thank the soldiers for their service and extend Christmas greetings.
”You are bringing peace to this land together with soldiers from Ireland, Malta and Hungary,” Błaszczak said during the meeting with the Polish military contingent at Camp Shamrock in the south of Lebanon.
“Your mission strengthens Poland's position in the international arena,” he added, as quoted by his ministry on its website.
Poland’s President Andrzej Duda said in October that a contingent of 250 Polish military and civilian personnel would ultimately be deployed to join the United Nations Interim Force (UNIFIL) in Lebanon.
Polish Foreign Minister Jacek Czaputowicz announced in July that his country would rejoin United Nations peacekeeping missions after a hiatus of more than a decade.
