During a visit to Warsaw on Wednesday, Olha Herasymiuk said: “I don’t know if anyone in Europe has done more than you.”

She added: “Thanks to you, millions of our citizens who have found refuge in Poland are hearing their mother tongue and feeling your friendship.”

She told the Polish public broadcaster: “It’s especially important that Ukrainian children are able to listen to Ukrainian tales and programmes in their native language. You are working to maintain their Ukrainian identity while they stay in Poland, which is very valuable.”

“You are doing a lot of good for us, for which we give special thanks to Polish Radio,” Herasymiuk said.

Polish Radio for Ukraine

Launched on May 2, Polish Radio for Ukraine is available on FM frequencies in the southeastern city of Przemyśl and the southeastern town of Hrubieszów. It also broadcasts in DAB+ format.

Airing news, commentary and music, Polish Radio for Ukraine features content by Ukraine’s public radio UKR1 and Polish Radio’s External Service, also known as Radio Poland.

It is available on Polish Radio’s web player and mobile application.

Polish Radio stands with Ukraine

Ever since Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, the Polish public radio broadcaster has been airing Ukrainian-language news bulletins three times a day on Polish Radio 1 and 3, the broadcaster's IAR news agency reported.

Meanwhile, Radio Poland’s Ukraine Section is also broadcasting for Ukrainian listeners.

These Polish Radio programmes are available in large parts of Ukraine and almost throughout the whole of Europe, according to executives.

In addition, Polish Radio’s polskieradio24.pl website airs a 24-hour live audio and video stream about the war on YouTube.

Moreover, Polish Radio has been airing the programming of Ukraine’s UKR1 public radio on its digital DAB+ service as well as its web player and mobile app.

Thursday is day 141 of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
