In comments on national television, Reznikov said the High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS) were having a growing impact as Ukraine tries to fend off Russia's invasion, the Reuters news agency reported.

He added that Ukrainian strikes were disrupting Russian logistics chains and taking away "their ability to conduct active fighting," including "heavy shelling," Reznikov said, as quoted by Reuters.

The US-based Institute for the Study of War (ISW) reported on Monday that the pace of Russian military operations in eastern Ukraine was slowing in the face of successful Ukrainian HIMARS strikes.

Reznikov also said on Monday that Ukraine had received three Gepard anti-aircraft armoured fighting vehicles, the first of 15 expected, and that Kyiv was expecting to take delivery of several dozen Leopard tanks, according to Reuters.

Meanwhile, Andriy Yermak, chief of staff to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyconfirmed on Monday that Poland had delivered a shipment of PT-91 Twardy (Strong) tanks to Ukraine to help it fend off Russian attacks.

A senior Ukrainian security official, Oleksiy Danilov, said earlier this month that Kyiv could soon receive HIMARS rockets with a range of up to 300 km from its Western partners, according to a report.

Danilov, who is secretary of Ukraine’s National Security and Defence Council, was last week quoted as saying that the HIMARS systems had markedly changed the situation on the front, helping Ukrainian forces achieve “fire parity” with Russia in certain areas.

Monday is day 152 of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
