Paweł Jabłoński made the remark at an economic conference in the western Polish city of Poznań on Thursday, state news agency PAP reported.

Taking part in a panel discussion during the Poznań Economic Congress, Jabłoński was asked about the biggest challenges facing Polish diplomacy.

He said that the biggest challenge was ensuring Poland’s security “not just in terms of increasing defence spending, but also boosting global security.”

Referring to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Jabłoński said: “The task for Polish diplomacy, but also for diplomats in other countries who view the world in a similar way, is to maintain the level of interest in the Ukraine war.”

“Maintaining the level of awareness is of strategic importance,” he added.

'If we let Russia win this war,' it will 'attack other countries’

Jabłoński told the Poznań audience: “If we let Russia win this war, or at least maintain a situation where it will be able to rebuild its potential, learning from the mistakes it had made over the past eight months, then Russia will simply attack again. It will attack again, not only Ukraine, but it will attack other countries.”

Keeping the international community aware that “this is an existential matter for the security of Europe is the biggest and most urgent task for Polish diplomacy,” Jabłoński said.

Friday is day 240 of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
