The two leaders held two-hour talks in the southeastern Polish city of Rzeszów on Thursday night, Polish state news agency reported.

The meeting came as Zelensky returned from trips to London, Paris and Brussels, where he met Europe’s leaders and made an address to the European Parliament.

During his European tour, the Ukrainian president thanked for the support for his country and urged further military assistance to help Ukraine repel the Russian invasion.

Zelensky also held a bilateral meeting in Brussels with Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.

Support for Ukraine, sanctions on Russia, NATO summit

The Polish head of state’s top foreign-policy aide Marcin Przydacz told the PAP news agency that during the meeting with President Duda, “President Zelensky reported on his latest diplomatic activity and the series of meetings in Brussels and other European capitals.”

The talks also concerned “the planned diplomatic efforts of President Duda and the preparation of the agenda for the upcoming NATO summit in Vilnius, Lithuania,” the aide said.

Przydacz added: “Next week President Duda is due to meet with the secretary general of NATO, so in this context, this exchange of opinion and information between the presidents of Poland and Ukraine is very important.”

The official said that Duda and Zelensky also discussed “the latest situation on the frontlines, the security situation in our region and the need for further collective efforts to provide military support to help Ukraine battle Russian aggression.”

Przydacz added: “The talks also focused on the issue of sanctions. President Zelensky thanked President Duda for Poland’s support for Ukraine, including taking care of millions of Ukrainian refugees.”

Friday is day 352 of Russia’s war on Ukraine.
