Russian military death toll in Ukraine rises to 281,090: report

Around 281,090 Russian troops have been killed in Ukraine since Vladimir Putin invaded the country in February last year, according to Ukrainian military authorities.

The Russians have also lost 4,777 tanks, 9,082 armored combat vehicles and 6,666 artillery systems during their military campaign in Ukraine, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said on Friday, as cited by state news agency Ukrinform.

On Thursday alone, Ukrainian forces killed 620 Russian soldiers, according to the ukrinform.net website.

Other Russian losses in Ukraine include 806 multiple launch rocket systems, 540 air defense systems, 315 warplanes, 316 helicopters, 20 warships, and 5,158 unmanned aerial vehicles, ukrinform.net reported.

A top British military official said this summer that "Russia has lost nearly half the combat effectiveness of its army" since invading Ukraine in February last year.

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, launching the largest military campaign in Europe since World War II.

Friday is day 590 of Russia’s war on Ukraine.
