President Joe Biden thanked the German Chancellor for his support for Ukraine, while Scholz said he hoped for the Congress to pass a USD 60 billion aid package for Ukraine, as it defend itself against the Russian invasion.

Scholz stressed that without the support of the United States and without the support of European countries, Ukrainians have no chance of defending their own country.

President Joe Biden said that the possible failure of Congress to pass the aid package “is close to criminal neglect, it is outrageous.” He also thanked Germany and other European allies, that their assistance is not waning.

The politicians also discussed Israel's war against Hamas, as Biden said the two countries were working together, especially on a two-state solution, which he called essential for lasting peace.

Olaf Scholz also criticized Vladimir Putin in Washington for making up what the chancellor called absurd stories in an interview with American political commentator Tucker Carlson.
