Volodymyr Zelensky gave the update in a video address to the nation on Thursday night, Polish state news agency PAP reported.
The Ukrainian head of state said: “We have some positive news in the Zaporizhzhia region where it is possible to thwart the plans of the occupiers."
"We are gradually advancing in the Kharkiv region. We are holding defence in the Mykolaiv axis," he added.
Meanwhile, “Severodonetsk, Lysychansk and other cities of Donbas, which the occupiers now consider to be the primary targets, still stand,” Zelensky emphasised.
Friday is day 107 of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
