Ukraine's special forces said that equipment on the platform was used for drones involved in attacks on Ukraine's critical infrastructure, the Reuters news agency reported.

The operation was carried out at night when Ukrainian boats "came close to the production platform" and mined the facility, according to a statement posted on the Telegram messaging app.

Ukrainian soldiers then captured "important enemy equipment" and "blew up a mast with an antenna," Ukraine's special forces said.

The operation "ensured safer movement of ships and limited the enemy's capabilities in the northwestern part of the Black Sea," the statement said, as quoted by Reuters.

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, starting the largest armed conflict in Europe since World War II.

Tuesday is day 713 of Russia’s war on Ukraine.
