FOCUS :: Behind the Scenes of the Chopin Piano Competition

Eighty-four pianists from twenty countries are competing in the 19th International Chopin Piano Competition, which started in Warsaw in October 2. In 2015 among those competitors was 16-year-old Tony Yang who won the fifth prize and remains the youngest winner of it to this date. I caught up with him to get a sneak peek behind-the-scenes of his journey into the decisive moments of the competition. "Romantic Chopin”, an immersive exhibition is opening at Art Box Experience in Warsaw's Norblin factory on Friday. The first multimedia project in Poland of this scale dedicated to Fryderyk Chopin, was produced by Art Box Experience in cooperation with the National Fryderyk Chopin Institute in Warsaw.

The National Museum of Modern Art in Kyoto, Japan is currently hosting an exhibition titled "Young Poland", showcasing more than 150 works from Poland’s late 19th and early 20th-century modernist movement, including paintings, drawings, prints, and decorative art. Key pieces by Olga Boznańska, Jacek Malczewski, and Włodzimierz Tetmajer - on loan from the National Museum in Kraków (MNK) - are among the works displayed in Japan.

A powerful video art exhibition that amplifies the voices of Ukrainian war survivors has opened at Warsaw’s Zachęta National Gallery of Art. Curated by Marta Czyż, Repeat After Me II was originally shown in the Polish Pavilion at the 60th International Art Exhibition of the Venice Biennale, where it drew nearly 400,000 visitors and gained international recognition.

FOCUS :: Cultural Institute in NYC marks 25 years

2025 marks the 25th anniversary of the Polish Cultural Institute New York. Founded in 2000 it is a diplomatic mission of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland, operating in the area of public diplomacy. One of 25 such institutes around the world it is also a member of the network of the European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC) in its New York cluster.
