Polish inflation at 2% in March: stats office

Inflation in Poland stood at 2 percent in year-on-year terms in March, the country’s statistics office said on Monday.

The reading was a notch higher than a flash estimate of 1.9 percent released by the state-run Statistics Poland (GUS) agency at the end of last month.

In Februarythe prices of consumer goods and services in Poland were 2.8 percent higher than in the same month a year earlier, according to Statistics Poland.

In January, Poland's consumer price index stood at 3.9 percent.

The Polish central bank predicted in its latest Inflation Report, released on March 10, that inflation would average at 3 percent in 2024, followed by 3.4 percent in 2025 and 2.9 percent in 2026.

Earlier this month, the central bank’s rate-setting Monetary Policy Council left key interest rates unchanged, keeping the reference rate at 5.75 percent.
