The hashtag #Nawrocki garnered 426 million impressions, with 177,000 mentions, marking the highest single-day exposure for any political topic in Poland in the past 12 months, according to the European Analytical Collective Res Futura.
According to data from Thursday, the topic #MieszkanieNawrockiego (Nawrocki’s apartment) reached an estimated traffic of 1.4 billion between May 5 and May 8, across social media platforms. The figures reflect the scale of online engagement around allegations involving presidential candidate Karol Nawrocki and his controversial property acquisition.
So far, prosecutors in the northern city of Gdańsk have received two formal complaints alleging potential criminal conduct by Nawrocki, the presidential candidate representing the right-wing Law and Justice (PiS) party.
The case centers on the disputed acquisition of a municipal apartment from an 80-year-old man, who now lives in a state-run nursing facility.
The complaints - filed by left-wing senator and rival candidate Magdalena Biejat and a private citizen - were first acknowledged by the Warsaw District Prosecutor’s Office and have been forwarded to local authorities.
The controversy exploded after Nawrocki claimed during a televised presidential debate that he owned only one apartment. Just days later, the news outlet Onet reported he actually owns two.
Nawrocki’s spokesperson insisted the second property generates no income and was occupied by a person he had long supported as a community activist in Gdańsk’s Siedlce district.
Earlier this week, Onet identified the elderly man involved and revealed he had entered state care in 2024. Amid rising scrutiny, Nawrocki later announced plans to donate the apartment to charity.
