As reported by the Polish news outlet Interia.pl, Nawrocki falsely claimed in an official document that he would care for an elderly man whose apartment he acquired.
The Polish presidential hopeful is under scrutiny after a 2021 document surfaced in which he pledged lifelong care for an elderly man, despite later admitting that he was unaware the man had ended up in a state-run care home.
Nawrocki falsely claimed he would care for the man whose apartment he took over
The written commitment, confirmed by Interia.pl, was reportedly signed shortly after Nawrocki became head of the Institute of National Remembrance with the backing of the PiS party.
According to a social worker who oversaw the senior’s case, Nawrocki “did nothing for Mr. Jerzy except take his apartment.”
The document seems to have been submitted as part of Nawrocki’s security clearance process to access classified national and NATO information, raising questions about whether he misrepresented the truth to public authorities.
Giertych urges criminal probe, calls for Nawrocki’s dismissal
Roman Giertych, head of a parliamentary team investigating abuses under Poland’s previous government, announced a formal request for prosecutors to investigate Karol Nawrocki over possible fraud and endangerment of an elderly man whose home Nawrocki acquired.
Giertych also called for Nawrocki’s dismissal as head of the Institute of National Remembrance (IPN), saying his actions damage the institution’s credibility.

Gdańsk demands payment, questions legality of flat deal
The city of Gdańsk has formally demanded that Karol Nawrocki, the PiS-backed presidential candidate, cover the costs of care for an elderly man whose apartment he acquired in exchange for a lifetime care commitment that he allegedly failed to honor.
Local officials also plan to notify prosecutors and the Notarial Chamber over concerns of possible fraud and ethical breaches surrounding the property deal, questioning whether Nawrocki ever intended to uphold his legal obligation.
Nawrocki skips hearing, cites political motives
Nawrocki failed to appear before a parliamentary justice committee on Friday, where he was expected to explain discrepancies surrounding his acquisition of an elderly man’s apartment.
In a letter, his deputy claimed the summons was politically motivated and that the committee had no legal basis to probe the matter, amid mounting scrutiny over Nawrocki’s financial declarations and unfulfilled care obligations.
