The president wrote about it on the social network Truth Social.
“This agreement is a key step towards the Gaza Strip finally being run by a new Palestinian government that will work closely with the Peace Council to help the Palestinian people. At the same time, Israel will receive the security to which it is entitled, and Gaza will no longer be used as a base for terrorist attacks,” the statement said.
The US president stressed that this is “an important milestone in the implementation of the “Trump 20-point Plan”.
“The deal will be implemented in several carefully planned stages. As disarmament is completed, Israeli troops will remain in the sector, and the International Stabilization Forces, together with the new Palestinian police, will assume responsibility for ensuring the security of residents of Gaza and neighboring territories,” he said.
Trump also thanked the mediators — Egypt, Qatar and Turkey.
“The threat that emerged from the Gaza Strip on October 7 will not be renewed. Under this agreement, the Gaza Strip will finally come under the control of a new Palestinian government that will work in the interests of its people,” he said.
On September 30, US President Donald Trump met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Washington. During the meeting, Trump announced a ceasefire plan in the Gaza Strip.
Trump proposed the following initiatives for a ceasefire and fighting in the Gaza Strip:
- Return of hostages captured by the Hamas group on October 7, 2023 during an attack on Israel within 72 hours of the ceasefire by Israel in the Gaza Strip;
- After the ceasefire to the Gaza Strip, send humanitarian aid and restore critical infrastructure;
- The United States will be a moderator between Israel and the Palestinian Authority on the restoration of administrative institutions in the Gaza Strip. Hamas is prohibited from participating in their reconstruction;
- Gaza will destroy all military infrastructure, including tunnels in which Hamas hides weapons;
- The Gaza Strip will become a demilitarized zone. The Gaza Strip should also become a “de-radicalized” zone and a “terrorist-free zone”. Hamas will be allowed to leave Gaza and receive amnesty;
- the United States and partners will establish an Interim International Stabilization Force (ISF) for immediate deployment in Gaza
- ISF will train and support proven Palestinian police forces
- work with Israel, Egypt and Jordan
- agree on a de-escalation mechanism;
- Israel will not occupy Gaza. The Israeli army will hand over the territory of the Gaza Strip to the International Stabilization Forces (ISF)
- Subject to reconstruction and reforms, Palestine will have the opportunity for sovereignty and the establishment of a state.
