No one was injured in the crash in the southern city of Kraków on Sunday.

Police said Szydło had not exercised sufficient caution when she pulled out in front of another driver, who then crashed into her car from behind.

Szydło was handed a PLN 450 (EUR 103, USD 115) fine and given six penalty points on her driving licence, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.

The news agency added that she would not face legal proceedings over the accident.

Szydło resigned as prime minister in December 2017, halfway through her conservative Law and Justice government’s term in office. She was replaced by former banker Mateusz Morawiecki.

Law and Justice politicians said at the time that the change of prime minister reflected the government’s determination to focus on the economy.
