Poland's Finance, Investment and Development Minister Jerzy Kwieciński has said that the aim of Thursday’s talks is to speed up joint investment projects in countries that are members of the Three Seas Initiative.

The talks were expected to focus on three topics: transport, energy and digitisation, Kwieciński, who is hosting the meeting, said.

This is the first such meeting under the Three Seas Initiative. So far, talks have chiefly been held among country leaders.

Kwieciński said: “Now the discussion moves to the ministerial level.”

The Three Seas Initiative was launched in 2015 with the goal of strengthening cooperation among nations between the Black, Baltic and Adriatic Seas. The member countries are Poland, Austria, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Croatia, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia.

Kwieciński added: “The initiative is primarily about integration, but also stability, which can be achieved through joint investment and projects in fields such as energy, transport and the digital economy.”
