Polish coal city hosts conference on energy transition

For the last two days the Polish southern city of Katowice has been the venue for a discussion by European coal regions on how to transition to a green economy.

“Poland is increasing the gas share in its energy mix but coal still represents 80 percent. It’s only 2 percent in France so that country is much better positioned cost-wise for climate neutrality. Poland will be the most challenged country here and that’s why it needs the biggest support,” Polish MEP Jadwiga Wiśniewska said.
