Polish security services are investigating how the call got through to Duda, state news agency PAP reported on Wednesday.

The Polish President’s Office confirmed the recording was authentic.

Russian pranksters Vladimir Kuznetsov and Alexei Stolyarov, known as Vovan and Lexus, posted a recording of the call with Duda on YouTube on Tuesday.

Kuznetsov, posing as Guterres, is heard congratulating Duda on his re-election.

In one part of the call, Kuznetsov asked Duda what he thought the source of the COVID-19 pandemic in Poland was.

“It could be Ukraine, because we have many people from Ukraine in our country,” Duda responded.

According to PAP, Kuznetsov and Stolyarov are known in Russia for pranking celebrities and politicians with hoax phone calls.

The duo has in the past tricked, among others, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and British singer Elton John.

A spokesman for Poland’s security services chief said an employee of Poland’s Permanent Representation to the United Nations approved the request for an interview with Duda, which was then directed to Polish President’s Office.
